If three meals work well, there is no reason to force six. Two balanced meals and a snack can also work when nutritional needs are met.
Why Two Days Without Food Is Not a Shortcut
A rapid fall on the scale after two days without food is not the same as losing that amount of body fat. Short-term weight change can include less food in the digestive tract and changes in glycogen and associated water. Stored glycogen is held with water in the body. Once normal eating resumes, part of that scale change may return.
A two-day fast may make it harder to consume sufficient nutrients and may lead to fatigue, dizziness, or rebound eating. People with diabetes or medicines affected by food intake should seek professional guidance before prolonged fasting.
